Word of the Day: Temptation

Jan 12, 2022 | Words of Wisdom

TEMPTATION – the wish to do or have something that you know you should not do or have; a cause or occasion of enticement

There are many temptations that we sadly fall into because our flesh is naturally weak, but we have a God who will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear; He will provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). We can therefore be victorious and then will thank the Lord for deliverance from temptation. Jesus’ experience in the desert helps us to see these common temptations that keep us from serving God effectively. We can only recognize and combat these temptations by saturating our hearts and minds with the Truth.

Scripture: James 4:17

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”

Saying:

“Ignoring a temptation is far more effective than fighting it. Once your mind is on something else, the temptation loses its power. So when temptation calls you on the phone, don’t argue with it — just hang up!”

— Rick Warren
